A superficial mycotic infection of the hair in which nodular masses of fungi become attached to the hair shafts.

trichosporosis

Etymology: Gk, thrix, hair, spora, seed, osis, condition

a fungus disease of the hair shaft, giving the hair a metallic appearance and caused by Trichosporon biegelii. Also called white piedra. See also piedra.
