Research shows that marathon runners are injured more frequently than triathletes - the reason: although triathletes may exercise more, they exercise differently and use different muscle groups on successive days.
Organised by Total Racing International, a group of ironmen and triathletes from the North East, the event included two 700-metre swims in the sea at Bamburgh, a 42km bike ride taking in Dunstanburgh Castle and a 10km run in The Pastures below Alnwick Castle.
JUNIOR triathletes from Holmfirth Harriers were at the final event in the Yorkshire & Humberside Triathlon Series held at Wakefield.
