Orthopedics A joint affected by trauma, characterized by a fracture line through the joint, resulting in hemorrhage, capsular swelling and distension, followed by adhesions between the pannus and synovia, granulation tissue covering the articular cartilage and fibrous ankylosis which may become ossified.
