The data from the Oregon Trauma Registry shows that off-road vehicle injuries to children doubled from the first half of the study period to the second half.
Researchers compared trauma registry data at The Johns Hopkins Hospital for the three-year time periods immediately before (1995-97) and after (1999-2001) the hospital's implementation of a full-time trauma service.
Trauma registry data were searched to find the originating county for ATV injuries in patients under the age of 18 presenting to the trauma center from January 1996 to October 2000.
