fetishism /fet·ish·ism/ (-izm)
1. worship of fetishes.
2. a paraphilia marked by recurrent sexual urges for and fantasies of using fetishes, usually articles of women's clothing, for sexual arousal or orgasm.

transvestic fetishism  a paraphilia of heterosexual males, characterized by recurrent, intense sexual urges, arousal, or orgasm associated with fantasized or actual dressing in clothing of the opposite sex.

Transvestism
Sexuoeroticism that hinges on dressing or masquerading in the clothes, especially underwear, of the opposite sex; it is far more common in men than in women. Cross-dressing with extreme gender dysphoria—persistent discomfort with one's present gender role or identity—may lead to sexual reassignment

fetishism [fet´ish-izm]
1. the worship of fetishes.
2. use of fetishes as a preferred or necessary adjunct to sexual arousal.
transvestic fetishism a paraphilia of heterosexual males, characterized by recurrent, intense sexual urges, arousal, or orgasm associated with fantasized or actual cross-dressing, to the extent that this causes significant distress or impairment in the person's life. Called also transvestism.

transvestic fetishism
A paraphilia of cross-dressing; clinical question is whether the TF is accompanied by gender dysphoria–persistent discomfort with present gender role or identity, which if extreme may eventuate in sexual reassignment. See Sexual reassignment.

In its more specific sense, it denotes cross-dressing that is, or at one time was, associated with sexual arousal, and is synonymous with transvestic fetishism (DSM-IV-TR), fetishistic transvestism (ICD-10), and male heterosexual erotic cross-dressing (Stoller, 1971).
