Treatment of T1 and T2 Lesions * Transanal excision should be the preferred procedure for small tumors within 6 to 10 cm of the anal verge and limited to 40% of the rectal circumference; * Transsphincteric and transsacral approaches should be appropriate when lesions are not suitable for transanal surgery; * Endocavity radiotherapy should be considered for very selected patients who have well-differentiated, nonulcerated lesions in the lower rectum.
