total body electric conductivity (TOBEC),
a method of measuring body composition by the differences in electric conductivity of fat, bone, and muscle. It is used for monitoring fitness of athletes; in clinical studies of weight control in which physicians want to determine if weight loss is caused by fat, water, or other tissues; and in measurement of fat content of dietary meats.
