thyrohyoid membrane
n.
A thin, fibrous, membranous sheet filling the gap between the hyoid bone and the thyroid cartilage.

thyrohyoid membrane,
a tough fibroelastic ligament that spans between the superior margin of the thyroid cartilage below and hyoid bone above. It is attached to the superior margin of the thyroid laminae and adjacent anterior margins of the superior horns and ascends medial to the greater horns and posterior to the body of the hyoid bone to attach to the superior margins of these structures. An aperture in the lateral part of the membrane on each side allows the passage of the superior laryngeal arteries, nerves, and lymphatics.
