Etymology: Gk, thermē, heat; L, regula, rule; Gk, kentron, center
center located in the hypothalamus concerned mainly with the regulation of heat production, heat inhibition, and heat conservation to maintain a normal body temperature. Kinds of thermoregulatory centers include thermogenic center, thermoinhibitory center, and thermotaxic center.
