Etymology: Gk, thanatos + phoros, bearer; AS, dweorge
an infant with severe micromelia, the limbs usually extending straight out from the trunk; an extremely narrow chest; and flattened vertebral bodies with wide intervertebral spaces. Death usually occurs from respiratory complications shortly after birth.
