talus /ta·lus/ (ta´lus) pl. ta´li [L.] ankle bone; the highest of the tarsal bones and the one that articulates with the tibia and fibula to form the ankle joint.
talus [tā′ləs] pl. tali Etymology: L, ankle the second largest tarsal bone. It supports the tibia, rests on the calcaneus, and also articulates with the malleoli and navicular bones. It consists of a body, neck, and head. Also called ankle bone, astragalus. talus the most proximal of the tarsal bones. Called also the tibial tarsal bone. See also Table 10.
