synteny group

a group of genes located on a single chromosome in two or more species. Synteny maps indicate how the chromosomal location of synteny groups compares between species and enable the classes of conserved synteny to be identified viz conservation of entire chromosomes, conservation of large regions of chromosomes and new synteny by the fusion of segments of different chromosomes.
