(sur-vī'v'in),
Human gene encoding a unique IAP apoptosis inhibitor. Survivin is present in fetal tissues, but is undetectable in adult tissues. It is, however, expressed in transformed cell lines and in the most common types of human cancer (that is, lung, colon, pancreas, prostate, breast) as well as in high-grade non-Hodgkin lymphomas.
