insemination /in·sem·i·na·tion/ (-sem″ĭ-na´shun) the deposit of seminal fluid within the vagina or cervix.
artificial insemination  (AI) that done by artificial means.
artificial insemination by donor  (AID) donor i.
artificial insemination by husband  (AIH) artificial insemination in which the semen used is from the woman's mate.
donor insemination , heterologous insemination artificial insemination in which the semen used is not from the woman's mate.
homologous insemination  artificial i. by husband.

the injection of semen into the vagina. It may involve an artificial process unrelated to sexual intercourse.

insemination
the deposit of seminal fluid within the vagina, cervix or uterus.

artificial insemination
that done by artificial means, e.g. by pipette or straw through the cervix. See also artificial insemination.
surgical insemination
the semen is deposited in the uterus by injection through its wall, having first exposed the uterus by a laparotomy.
