supplied to animals at pasture to supplement a shortfall due to inadequate supply of feed. In housed or lotted animals refers to supplements for special needs such as growth, pregnancy, lactation, flushing for fertility.

supplementary register

when there is a register of accredited herds, registered veterinarians, studbooks, it is common practice to have a supplementary register of persons or animals who do not quite have the required qualifications but are trying to enter the list.
