A test to identify anterior shoulder instability. The relocation test for anterior glenohumeral instability is performed. While the patient’s glenohumeral joint is externally rotated, the examiner suddenly removes the posteriorly directed stabilizing force. A positive test is marked by the patient's expression of pain and/or apprehension. Synonym: surprise test See: relocation test
