Hypothesis There will be a clinically and statistically significant post-treatment reduction in the magnitude of clinically depressed adults' scores on the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Subjective Units of Distress Scale (SUDS), and the Montgomery Asberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS), as well as a significant post-treatment increase in the magnitude of participants' scores on the Lifeworks Joy Inventory (LJI).
During the procedure, participants completed the Subjective Units of Distress Scale (SUDS); a visual analog scale whereby participants place a mark on a 100-mm line anchored from not at all distressed to very much distressed (Wolpe, 1958).
