stud
1. purebred.
2. a place, usually a farm, at which purebred animals are maintained and reproduced.

stud animal
an animal registered in a stud book.
stud book
the register in which the names and parentage of all of the animals that constitute the breed are kept.
stud breeder
person conducting a business of a stud herd, flock, kennel, cattery etc.
stud crud
double stud
term used in the sheep industry; said of the best lines of rams.
stud farm
a farm maintained for the purpose of breeding more stud animals.
stud herd
a herd composed of purebred animals and used for producing more purebred animals.
stud tail
hyperplasia of the sebaceous glands of the dorsum of the tail in sexually active male cats complicated by inflammation and orthokeratotic hyperkeratosis.
