We have previously reported the therapeutic effects of several new AGE/ALE inhibitors on the prevention of nephropathy and dyslipidemia in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats.
Previously the only treatment option was streptozotocin, an outdated naturally occurring toxin that gained FDA approval for the treatment of pancreatic islet cell cancer in 1982.
Researchers at the Bishop Heber College in Tamil Nadu recently undertook a study into this plant and its effects on the blood sugar levels of both normal and streptozotocin (STZ) induced diabetic rats.
