a substance common in mammalian fat. Formed from the reaction of stearic acid with glycerol. See also olein, palmitin.

Comments: Palm Butter is a natural (nonhydrogenated) stearin fraction of palm fat that is a solid butter at room temperature that has great antioxidant power.
It was blended with a hard stearin fraction (PSt) from palm oil (10% to 90%), and its suitability as a plastic fat was studied.
Add one tablespoon of stearin per pound of wax to improve the burning quality of the candle.
