In dentistry, a wax, plastic, or metal pattern used to make the channel or channels through which molten metal flows into a mold to make a casting. Also called sprue former.

sprue pin(sprū pin)
A hollow or solid length of metal or wax used to attach a pattern or form to a sprue base during the laboratory fabrication of a cast metal restoration. Pin provides pathway for molten metal to pass through refractory investment into mold.
