sporoblast /spo·ro·blast/ (spor´o-blast) one of the bodies formed in the oocyst of the malarial parasite in the mosquito and from which the sporozoite later develops; also, similar stages in certain other sporozoa.

An early stage in the development of a sporocyst, prior to differentiation of the sporozoites.

Etymology: Gk, sporos + blastos, germ
any cell that gives rise to a sporozoite or spore during the sexual reproductive phase of the life cycle of a sporozoon. It refers specifically to the cells resulting from the multiple fission of the encysted zygote of the malarial parasite Plasmodium, from which the sporozoites develop.

sporoblast
an asexual reproductive phase in the development of coccidial parasites. See also sporogony.
