sporadic lymphangitis a noncontagious disease of horses characterized by a sudden onset of severe swelling and pain in one hindleg. There is a high fever. Associated with infection of minor wounds on the leg, a lymphangitis and lymphadenitis and spread of infection to surrounding tissues. Called also bigleg, sporadic equine lymphangitis.
