specialties

A generic term for the individual units in a UK hospital, considered as an aggregate, which focus on the diagnosis and treatment within a particular field of medicine, disease or client group. As used here, the  term differs from the classic sense of a specialty—e.g., cardiology, orthopaedics, etc.
