small cell carcinoma Small cell undifferentiated carcinoma, undifferentiated carcinoma A highly aggressive malignancy, usually of lung, which arises in proximal bronchi and spreads early to hilar and mediastinal lymph nodes Epidemiology SCC comprises 10% to 20% of lung CA, more common in ♂ > age 65; 85+% are smokers Clinical Cough, hemoptysis, weight loss Treatment Combination chemotherapy–eg, etoposide, cisplatin, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine with chest RT Prognosis Without treatment, 3 month survival
