1. a condition in which a minute dose of a substance poisonous to animals will produce immediate temporary immunity to the action of the poison, although the blood of the animal may be highly toxic during that period of immunity.
2. the method of allergic desensitization by the preliminary injection of a small amount of the allergen, as is commonly done before the injection of an antiserum.
