simethicone /si·meth·i·cone/ (sĭ-meth´ĭ-kōn) an antifoaming and antiflatulent agent consisting of a mixture of dimethicones and silicon dioxide.
simethicone [simeth′ikōn] an antiflatulent that helps the gases to dissolve in liquid by decreasing the surface tension of gas bubbles. indication It is prescribed to disperse gas pockets in the GI tract. contraindications There are no significant contraindications other than hypersensitivity to the medication. adverse effects There are no significant adverse effects. simethicone an antiflatulent substance consisting of a mixture of dimethyl polysiloxanes and silica gel.
