It retains all sizes of snapper, rubberlip morwong and silver trevally in the NSW fishery.
Other species that are typically caught by commercial and recreational rod and hand-line fishermen when fishing for dhufish include pink snapper (Pagrus auratus), Sampson fish (Seriola hippos), silver trevally (Pseudocaranx dentex), breaksea cod (Epinephelides armatus), and occasionally also King George whiting (Sillaginodes punctara).
