Producing no detectable signs or symptoms. Used of certain diseases or pathological processes.

silent atria
see atrial standstill.
silent estrus
see silent heat (below).
silent heat
the behavior pattern in which the animal gives no behavioral signals that an ovarian follicle is maturing and rupturing although it is doing so or has just done so. Called also silent estrus.
silent lung
breath sounds absent on auscultation; occurs over collapsed lung or lung shielded by fluid, pus, solid tissue.
