sheepdog
any of various breeds of dogs produced to help manage sheep flocks. Three general types, the herding breeds that bring sheep to the operator, e.g. Border collie, the huntaway breeds that move sheep ahead, e.g. kelpie, and the guarding types that protect the flock from predators, e.g. Komondor.
