Serinus
a genus of the bird family Fringillidae.

Serinus canaria
a small, stocky, seed-eating cage bird with a short conical bill. Called also canary, serin finch. Popular breeds are gloster fancy, yorkshire, norwich, border fancy, lizard, belgianfancy and roller. They are noted for their crisp, bell-like tone combined with warbles and trills.
