screw-worm flies
the flies that produce screw-worms.
screw-worm myiasis
invasion of normal skin wounds by maggots of callitroga, chrysomyabezziana and passeromyia flies. Large masses of tissue may be destroyed and the case fatality rate approximates 100%. All animal species including humans are susceptible.
New world screw-worm
Cochliomyia hominivorax.
Old world screw-worm
Chrysomya bezziana.
