The larva of the botfly, Cochliomyia hominivorax, and other similar forms that cause human and animal myiasis.

invasion of normal skin wounds by maggots of callitroga, chrysomyabezziana and passeromyia flies. Large masses of tissue may be destroyed and the case fatality rate approximates 100%. All animal species including humans are susceptible.
