crescents of Giannuzzi  crescent-shaped patches of serous cells surrounding the mucous tubercles in seromucous glands.
myopic crescent  a crescentic staphyloma in the fundus of the eye in myopia.
sublingual crescent  the crescent-shaped area on the floor of the mouth, bounded by the lingual wall of the mandible and the base of the tongue.

n.
A white or grayish white crescent-shaped area in the fundus of the eye caused by atrophy of the choroid.

crescent, myopic 
A white area of sclera seen adjacent to the temporal side of the optic disc mainly in pathological myopia, but also sometimes in non-pathological myopia. The choroid and retinal pigment epithelium have atrophied in the crescent area, allowing the sclera to be seen. Syn. myopic conus; myopic scleral crescent.
