schistocephalus

schistocephalus /schis·to·ceph·a·lus/ (shis″-) (skis″to-sef´ah-lus) a fetus with cranium bifidum.
cranium [kra´ne-um] (pl. cra´nia) (L.)
the large round superior part of the skull, enclosing the brain and made up of the cranial bones.
cranium bi´fidum incomplete formation of the skull, with defective formation of the brain and often an encephalocele or meningocele. Called also cranioschisis.

Schistocephalus
a genus of tapeworms in the family Diphyllobothriidae.

Schistocephalus solidus
adults found in the intestine of birds and can cause mortality in ducks. Intermediate stages in cyprinid fishes cause marked swelling of the abdomen.

a fetus with a cleft head.
