Saline A salt solution in water. Normal saline has the same salt concentration as the body, 0.9%. saline [sā′līn] Etymology: L, sal, salt 1 pertaining to a substance that contains a salt or salts. 2 pertaining to something that is salty or has the characteristics of common table salt. A variety of formulations is used but all contain sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium ions; some also contain glucose. saline solution a solution of salt (sodium chloride) in purified water. Physiological saline solution is a 0.9% solution of sodium chloride and water and is isotonic, i.e. of the same osmotic pressure as blood serum. saline water poisoning see sodium chloride poisoning. saline waters waters from surface running mineral springs, water obtained from natural underground storages in artesian and subartesian bores. saline adjective Nursing Referring to salt or a saline solution noun Nursing A solution of salt and water. My silicone implants expired on the surgeon's shelf before they went in my body. Both implants ruptured and disintegrated within 5 years of implantation. I was diagnosed with FM shortly after 2 surgeries to remove silicone goo. Just wondering if anyone else has made the connection. Thank you! A. As far as I know several studies failed to prove there is a connection between rupture of breast implants and fibromyalgia, as did the FDA conclude. Indeed I heard about one study that found this connection, but it seemed like a very problematic one.
