rib shaking

rib shaking,
a procedure in physiotherapy in which constant, downward pressure is applied with an intermittent shaking motion of the hands on the rib cage over the area being drained. It is done with the flat part of the palm of the hand over the lung segment being drained during 4 to 12 prolonged exhalations by the patient through pursed lips.
