, optician and ophthalmic technician with a relevant knowledge and adequate training can be used not only to diagnose refractive error but also to address issues of psychosocial impact of refractive error.
While the argument for the delegated functions to receive refractionist
status is stronger; an optometrist is the best-qualified person to perform a comprehensive sight test including the refraction.
In addition Refractionist
and Ophthalmic Operation Theatre Technicians are also being imparted training.
