The company also failed to ensure that drug product containers were clean, sterilized and processed to remove pyrogenic properties and had not demonstrated that "the worst-case conditions were challenged to validate depyrogenation of all vial sizes that are aseptically filled at your facility.
Any atmospherically carried particulates, be they viable pathogens, pyrogenic material, chemical fumes, odours or viruses, or other offending materials are 'zapped' by the plasma field as a result of its own electrical charge.
The rule also states that validation is "required for the processes used to remove pyrogenic properties," which FDA says reflects current industry practice.
