metritis [mətrī′tis] Etymology: Gk, metra, womb, itis, inflammation inflammation of the walls of the uterus. Kinds of metritis are endometritis and parametritis. Also called uteritis. See also puerperal fever. metritis inflammation of the uterus. contagious equine metritis called also CEM. See contagious equine metritis. metritis dissecans metritis with necrosis of portions of the uterine wall. mastitis-metritis-agalactia puerperal metritis infection of the pregnant uterus. purulent metritis see pyometra. septic metritis metritis with a severe systemic reaction, either as a toxemia or a septicemia.
