Etymology: L, pulsare, to beat; Gk, ex + ophthalmos, eye
an eye disorder characterized by a bulging, pulsating eyeball, caused by an arteriovenous aneurysm involving the internal carotid artery and the cavernous sinus of the orbit.

Exophthalmos accompanied by pulsation and bruit due to an aneurysm behind the eye.
