adj pertaining to substances that aid in the breakdown and assimilation of proteins.
Proteus
n a genus of motile, gram-negative bacilli often associated with nosocomial infections and normally found in feces, water, and soil. It may cause urinary tract infections, pyelonephritis, wound infections, diarrhea, bacteremia, and endotoxic shock.
