probe (prob) 1. a long, slender instrument for exploring wounds or body cavities or passages. 2. a radioactive or chemiluminescent DNA or RNA sequence used to detect the presence of a complementary sequence. DNA probes are used clinically to detect and identify infectious disease agents.

The probe has markings at 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, and 10 MM.
