postpill amenorrhea [-pill′] Etymology: L, post + pilla, ball; Gk, a, not, men, month, rhoia, flow failure of normal menstrual cycles to resume within 3 months after discontinuation of oral contraception. The pathophysiologic characteristics of this uncommon condition are poorly understood. Postpill amenorrhea is rarely permanent.
