A dry photographic or photocopying process in which a negative image formed by a resinous powder on an electrically charged plate is electrically transferred to and thermally fixed as positive on a paper or other copying surface. Also called xeroradiograph.

xeroradiography

Etymology: Gk, xeros + L, radiare, to emit rays; Gk, graphein, to record

a diagnostic x-ray technique in which images are produced electrically rather than chemically, permitting lower exposure times and radiation energies than those of ordinary x-rays. The latent image is made visible with a powder toner similar to that used in a copying machine. The powder image is transferred and heat-fused to a sheet of paper. The images exhibit "edge contrast" because of the shape of the electric fields that pull toner onto the plate. Such edge contrast is useful for identifying minute calcifications in the breast. Xeroradiography is used primarily for mammography. Also called xerography.

Hence, xeroradiography is especially beneficial in the diagnosis of breast tumors. It does, however, require higher doses of radiation. Called also xerography.

Hence, xeroradiography is especially beneficial in the diagnosis of mammary tumors. Structures such as tendons are also visually enhanced. It does, however, require higher doses of radiation.
