polymyxin B sulphate

polymyxin B sulphate

An antibiotic solution effective against many gram-negative organisms and particularly Pseudomonas aeruginosa, but not Proteus. It is used topically in combination with either bacitracin as an ointment, or trimethoprim as drops or ointment or neomycin plus gramicidin as drops. These combinations render polymyxin B active against a wide range of bacteria.
