polyionic replacement solutions
used in the treatment of patients with fluid and electrolyte deficit, the choice of solution to be used depending on the exact nature of the deficit. In the uncompromised patient undergoing elective surgery it is usual to use an alkalizing, isotonic solution such as lactated Ringer's.
