They used such techniques as sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), western blotting techniques and matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry.
To compare the reproducibility of quantitation using Coomassie staining versus the UV irradiation technique, serial dilutions of a PAGE protein standard were run on polyacrylamide gels in quadruplicate, visualized with UV irradiation and subsequently stained with Coomassie G-250.
Super-oxide dismutase (SOD) and Ascorbate peroxidase (APO) activities were quantified spectrophotometrically and by native- polyacrylamide gels.
