PLK4

A gene on chromosome 4q27-q28 that encodes a member of the CDC5/Polo subfamily of serine/threonine protein kinases. PLK4 plays a central role in centriole duplication and is also involved in trophoblast differentiation by phosphorylating HAND1, which disrupts the HAND1/MDFIC interaction, leading to HAND1 activation. It also phosphorylates CDC25C and CHEK2. PLK4 is downregulated by p53/TP53.
