pleuropneumonia-like organisms  any of various bacteria of the genus Mycoplasma, originally found causing pleuropneumonia in cattle and later found in other animals, including humans.

pleuropneumonia-like organisms
a term applied to a group of filtrable microorganisms similar to Mycoplasma mycoides, the cause of pleuropneumonia in cattle; abbreviated PPLO.
